About Us

About Piper Chatfield – antique & fine contemporary furniture specialists in Gloucestershire

‘Piper Chatfield’ is backed by owners with a distinguished history in furniture design, production and domestic interiors.
Our aim is to introduce a range of beautifully painted furniture like our classical painted furniture that will enhance any interior.

Mix new and old!

We want to revive the instinct to enhance and make individual your home, escaping from the slavish following of fashion for the pale, bland and common place. One or two characterful and colourful pieces like our French style painted furniture set in an otherwise contemporary setting can make the whole ensemble really stunning!

Meet our people…

Colin Piper

Colin and his wife Janet co-founded Piper Chatfield Fine Furniture Ltd. in 2014, sharing a wish to work together to provide a beautiful and useful  shop in Stow-on-the-Wold . After a long and distinguished career conserving very fine furniture, (don't miss the film of him working on 'The Pope's Cabinet, if you ever visit the National Trust property at Stourhead in Wiltshire!) Colin is now just as passionate about the eclectic and beautifully-crafted, carefully sourced, furniture and objects that delight customers in the shop.

After spending many years running a company teaching countless companies how to export their goods, Janet is now also enjoying a second career, supporting Colin in their venture running their 'lifestyle' shop.
Janet strongly believes that well-designed, beautifully-crafted and finely-finished modern pieces can mix harmoniously with good antiques. Her eye for lovely contemporary furniture and accessories is clear to see in the shop.

We work closely with Jamie Chatfield, who did his apprenticeship under Colin's careful eye and whose name fits so comfortably with the Pipers.  Jamie runs Chatfield Furniture Conservation.  His company is committed to using the latest techniques in conservation and all craftsmen he employs are affiliated to recognised conservation bodies and actively follow a programme of continuing professional development.

We are proud to recommend Jamie to any of our customers who are looking for expert conservation or restoration of their precious antiques.
