This lovely example of  a three-panelled mule chest is in remarkably fine, near original condition (see below). The shallow carved decoration (different on each of the three panels) is accentuated by the punched background making it appear more bold to the eye. The trompe l'oeil effect is continued with the gadrooning to the drawer below. Although it has been carved into a completely flat surface it leaves the impression that the drawer face is gently convex.  The patina and colour of the chest is superb.

The only losses are the moulding below the drawer gadrooning and the short length of similar moulding to the LH leg
